The Chicago Bears running back seems to interest Bill Lazor the most.

The only evaluation Lazor was willing to share on Trubisky was what he saw on tape from Trubisky as a professional. Lazor does have faith in Trubisky but wants him to show what he is about on the field and in person.

Another connection besides Trubisky, Foles, and Nagy is David Montgomery. An unnamed coach from Iowa State was coaching David Montgomery in college. Lazor is excited about what David Montgomery can become due to the details Montgomery has shown in the past with his play and in zoom meetings.

If there is a player that was mentioned that sparked some excitement in Lazor, it was Montgomery. Lazor has already talked to Juan Castillo, the offensive line coach, and Clancy Barone, the tight ends coach about what formations they plan to run. I can’t say for sure if Mark Helfrich was doing that in 2017, but it is nice to know that they already have an idea of what formations to bring out to stay unpredictable in the run and pass game.

When Lazor was asked about Trubisky’s fifth-year option being declined, Lazor spoke on how that doesn’t affect the way he is going to coach Trubisky. It sounds like Lazor knows that Mitch Trubisky needs to work on his fundamentals and footwork. Lazor knows that he needs to find ways to make it click for each player. Mitch Trubisky has had bad footwork for three years now.
