The speed that this Chicago Bears offense holds can turn out to be a game-changer.

This Bears team is covered with speed in all three phases of the game. David Montgomery isn’t the fastest back but the speed around him can help him execute his dynamic elusiveness better. He showed power and purpose while running the ball when all hope appeared lost in the offense.

Montgomery’s patience and vision allow him to create space for himself. During his rookie campaign, he broke 28 tackles on 242 carries. Now add the speed around him and proper execution on top of that and the future appears bright for him.

There’s a number of players on the offensive side who rely on speed such as Tarik Cohen, Cordarelle Patterson and Anthony Miller to name a few. The attention they attract along with a steady push from the offensive line would turn Montgomery into a 1,000-plus yard rusher in 2020. It would create an opportunity for the Bears to stay creative within their playbook.

Cohen on the other hand is a triple threat skill player. He can impact the game through handoffs, catching the ball, and on special teams. It wouldn’t be too far fetched for another 1,000-plus all-purpose yards season for Cohen as well (2018). His speed and elusiveness allow him to gain separation from defenders in an instant.
