Which way is the stock trending on Chicago Bears defensive end Brent Urban

The stock and status of Brent Urban with the Chicago Bears has to be trending up. Remember, this is a player who was released by the Tennessee Titans midway through 2019. He was on waivers during the season and was not guaranteed a job elsewhere.

With the injury to Akiem Hicks, the Chicago Bears needed depth, and they turned to Urban. It turned out to work out for both parties. The Bears got the depth they needed, and Urban played really well in his chances with the team.

Roy Robertson-Harrison and Eddie Goldman missed time in the final three games of the season, and the Bears were able to get a long look at Urban. Urban showed up and finished 2019 with 16 tackles for Chicago.

So, he was able to show that he still had the juice to stick around the league, but entering free agency, there may not have been much of a market for him.

The Bears brought him back on a one-year, $1 million deal, and he gets another chance to prove himself as the Bears get motivated depth.

It could be argued that Urban stock is not that high, as he signed a cheap one-year deal. They would like to see more.

Next. Odds are against Riley Ridley. dark

Still, it is fair to want to see more from a six-game flash that he had last season, and by bringing him back at all shows just how intrigued they were in what he did in that time. Urban didn’t mind staying, and the Bears were happy to bring him back. It seems to be good for both sides.
