‘X’ Wide Receiver

  1. Allen Robinson
  2. Javon Wims

The ‘X’ wide receiver is essentially the big-bodied target for the Bears offense. Obviously, in the Bears case, Allen Robinson is the man here. Robinson is arguably a top-ten wide receiver in the NFL with his unbelievable route-running and ability to high-point and win contested catches.

Robinson last season posted one of his best seasons of his career catching 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns. He did this while the rest of the Chicago Bears offense seemed to regress. That just shows how elite he is. He, unfortunately, was robbed of a Pro Bowl, but definitely deserved it.

Javon Wims is a player that could possibly be cut, but I believe should be on the roster. Wims truly is the only other big-bodied wide receiver that I believe could fill the Robinson role if Robinson were to go down to injury. His ability to win jump balls is very underrated and he has looked solid in his limited playing time.

Wims hasn’t exactly gotten a lot of opportunities. Over two seasons, he has caught 22 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown. I believe he is a solid wide receiver that could do his job if called upon.
