Trubisky vs. Darnold: Counting Stats

Alright, let us take a look at some of the more important stats. These are the stats that truly matter in the end. Putting points on the board is how a team wins football games. Turnovers are how teams find themselves giving up points. Honestly, even though Trubisky won the first two areas, this spot is the most important of the three.

Over two years, Sam Darnold has thrown 36 touchdowns to Trubisky’s 41. However, when broken down per game, each quarterback averages 1.4 touchdowns per game. Looking at the number of touchdowns from the ground, Trubisky beats Darnold again with five over two years whereas Darnold has three. This breaks down to 0.2 rushing touchdowns per game for Trubisky and 0.1 for Darnold. Trubisky sneaks out as the winner here, but not by much.

Now, what about the turnovers? Over the last two years, Trubisky has thrown 22 interceptions. In that same span, Darnold has thrown 28. Clearly Trubisky has turned it over less through the air as he has played more games with fewer turnovers. If we break down the turnovers by game, Trubisky averages 0.8 and Darnold averages 1.1. Another victory for Trubisky.

There are other stats to look into, but these are enough to show that Trubisky is currently a better quarterback than Sam Darnold. Anyone who thinks otherwise, share this article with them.
