Mitchell Trubisky, QB

Of course, the No. 1 suspect on this list is Mitchell Trubisky. The expectations of the second overall selection of the 2017 NFL Draft will never die down, and because of that, Trubisky will always have a ton of pressure on his shoulders. The success of Mahomes and Watson really doesn’t help the burden. At one point, it appeared that the arrow was pointing in the right direction for Trubisky, but things changed suddenly.

In his first full season as a starter in 2018, the North Carolina product showed much promise in his first year in Nagy’s system and many thought things would only get better. Unfortunately, in 2019, Trubisky’s play regressed. Now, the soon-to-be 26-year old is in the final year of his rookie contract (which didn’t get the fifth-year option) and will have to actually earn his starting spot by competing against Nick Foles in training camp.

There are some Bears fans that fully believe that Trubisky can be a franchise quarterback for years to come. The fact that Chicago traded up in the draft to select him, and the constant comparison of the quarterbacks in this draft class makes the margin of error for Trubisky very slim. And because of those reasons, every mistake will be looked at under a microscope.

Not having lived up to expectations has already put Trubisky on fans’ list of players to hate entering 2020. But if this trend continues, Trubisky will not only be branded as a disappointment but possibly as the biggest bust in Bears’ history.
