Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

For the sake of simplicity and to start off on a good note, I chose the Detroit Lions as the first team I’ll compare the Bears to. Fortunately for Chicago, the Lions are always there, giving Bear players and coaches the feeling that they have a chance to win those games every year, no matter how bad their own team might be.

These two teams will face each other week one, hopefully giving Chicago a good win to get the season rolling in the right direction. The Lions finished with only three wins last year but didn’t have a quarterback, as Matthew Stafford was injured for a majority of the season.

That being said, the Bears had Mitch Trubisky at quarterback, who was as good as a backup, so these teams are about even in that regard. Detroit will obviously upgrade with the return of Stafford, while Chicago brought in Nick Foles to either start or scare Trubisky into playing how he did in college.

Even if the offense only improves a little bit, the Bears should beat the Lions with relative ease. I’d give Chicago at least one win, most likely two. It’s not a game that anybody can be too comfortable with though, as Stafford’s squad has shown to give trouble to the team in the Windy City.
