Chicago Bears: Preseason is over for the NFL in 2020
The Chicago Bears will need to find their way in training camp.
The Chicago Bears and other organizations will not have to worry about playing a preseason game this year. What looked to be a year Matt Nagy was looking forward to having preseason games won’t happen now. Losing preseason can be both good and bad for the Chicago Bears. Stay tuned for why it could be suitable for the Chicago Bears later on. According to JC Tretter, the NFLPA President, injuries were up around 25% following the 2011 NFL lockout.
Hopefully, the Chicago Bears have at least 80 players that have stayed in shape and worked their tail off on their own to get ready for training camp because the roster size will also be reduced to 80 players instead of the 90 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mike Florio of Pro Football talk said, “The schedule calls for three weeks of strength and conditioning training, 10 days of non-padded practice, and 10 days of padded practice of the final two weeks of training camp.”
This schedule will still allow the coaches to get a good feel of the camp battles coming our way. All the Chicago Bear fans will be able to do is stand by and listen to who is winning what battles and hope the coaches are being direct and forward during their press conferences, which will likely be done by zoom. If the football gods weren’t on Mitch Trubisky‘s side before, they sure are now as he will have a leg up in the quarterback competition.
Undrafted potential players like Ledarius Mack will have to come; they make this 10 man cut even to get a chance to show what he can do on the field and what he has learned. Cheers to still hoping an NFL season is still in the works to be on time and played this year. Rumor has it they are also working on allowing players that want to opt-out of playing this season an option
