Chicago Bears 2020 roster ranking: 9
Who is the ninth-ranked Chicago Bears heading into the 2020 season?
9. Eddie Goldman
Last Year: 12
2018 Ranking: 9
Eddie Goldman has always been a top tier player, and the consistency shows in his year by year rankings. After a slight drop last year, he is right back in the top 10 most valuable players on the Chicago Bears.
Goldman does not get talked about much, but that is the reason he is such a key player for the Bears. He does all of the little things. Goldman holds up blockers and helps free space for rushers such as Akiem Hicks and Khalil Mack. With Robert Quinn in the mix, he may be even more undervalued.
However, with those three rushing next to Eddie Goldman, his ability to hold up blockers and break up double teams will be more valuable than ever. Beyond that, one drop off that comes with moving from Leonard Floyd to Quinn is run defense. With that in mind, Goldman does show more value against the run.
We broke down the value of Goldman earlier this offseason and found him to be a value based on his play compared to his peers.
Also, looking at his age and career trajectory, there is a good chance that Goldman will continue this play for the next five seasons and beyond. Players such as Shaun Rogers came up as comparable players at this point in their careers.
Overall, Eddie Goldman is still a valued asset on this roster and deserving of his ranking in the top ten.
