Eddie Jackson is the front-runner to be the second guy in Chicago Bears defense

I could sit here and talk about Eddie Jackson all day long, but it didn’t start that way. I’ll be the first to admit that I was a skeptic when he was drafted as an injury-prone player coming out of Alabama. But this, in my opinion, has been Ryan Pace’s best draft pick since arriving in Chicago.

Jackson has done nothing but dominate in the NFL, earning two Pro Bowl selections and a first-team All-Pro honor in 2018. This started with an unnatural amount of touchdowns that he scored in his first couple of years as a Chicago Bear. For his first couple of seasons, he found himself in the end zone more than most of the receivers in his draft class.

The Crimson Tide alum struggled last season though, dropping off in almost every notable statistical category. He did improve in yards per completion, yards per target, and allowed only a single touchdown reception, but his waning production rippled through the entire team.

If this team wants to find itself back in contention for a playoff spot, it starts here. After a slightly disappointing 2019 season, Jackson will look to step up to the number two spot on this unit.
