The Chicago Bears improved its coaching staff

A huge issue with the Bears run game was their coaching staff. In both seasons under head coach Matt Nagy, the Bears run game wasn’t pretty. Granted, their rushing yards per game in 2018 was above average, but their run-blocking offensive line wasn’t.

In 2018, their offensive line ranked 28th in the NFL according to Football Outsiders. That essentially means that the Bears’ rushing attack was created by the players, not by the offensive line itself. In 2019, their offensive line ranked one spot lower at 29.

With the coaching additions of Juan Castillo and Bill Lazor, the Bears put their entire run-game scheme in their hands. Castillo has shown that he can run the ball well with the Buffalo Bills having a top-10 rushing attack in each of his two seasons.

Bill Lazor also loves to run his run-pass option offense and is very good at it. His addition should prove to help greatly for the run-game.

These additions should both prove to help out the offensive line. The addition of these two isn’t the only additions though that should help this offensive line…
