Chicago Bears: Three reasons why David Montgomery will breakout

Additions to the Chicago Bears offensive line
General Manager Ryan Pace made it clear this offseason that offensive line was an issue that needed to be addressed. He first did this with Nagy by adding the new offensive coaching staff. Additionally, he made it clear by adding a lot of depth to this shaky offensive line.
The biggest addition this offseason was powerful offensive guard Germain Ifedi. Ifedi is known for his horrendous offensive tackle play in his years in Seattle, but a lot of people fail to realize how promising the former first-round pick looked like a rookie when he played right guard.
Ifedi as a right guard showed an ability to maul defensive linemen and move extremely well. His ability to open up and create enormous holes for his line was very impressive as a rookie. He made mistakes with penalties, but those should get cleaned up as a guard over a tackle. His pass-blocking also needs to improve.
Additionally, the Bears brought in some competition for the commonly criticized offensive tackles Charles Leno Jr. and Bobby Massie. Jason Spriggs signed to a one-year prove-it deal to push these two. Spriggs was a second-round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers who failed to stay healthy but showed promise in his limited time.
Besides these two additions, the Bears also added two seventh-round picks and more undrafted free agents to compete. This line should be improved with the competition, and the upgrade from Rashaad Coward to Ifedi will prove to be huge.
