Chicago Bears: 4 Offensive players who are on the roster bubble
These four players on offense are going to struggle to make the final roster
The Chicago Bears, like every other NFL team, are going to struggle to analyze the backend of their roster without any preseason games. If we focus on the offensive side of the ball, the quarterback position clearly is not one that will see anyone on the roster bubble. We all know that Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky will be on the final roster while Tyler Bray is likely going to be on the practice squad.
Bill Lazor and John DeFilippo spoke in their press conferences yesterday about how the team is going to focus on the details in regards to the quarterback competition. DeFilippo mentioned how the coaches will not be looking at strictly completions, but they will focus on the accuracy of each completion. The problem is that practice and actual games are very different. Trying to replicate a game-type atmosphere will be very difficult.
The coaches will need to use this same philosophy at every position though, since the third, fourth and fifth-string players will not have an opportunity to fully display their skills in game speed. Instead, the coaches will need to rely on prior knowledge of players, skills shown in practice, and the ability to replicate and communicate schemes and plays.
Outside of the quarterback position, plenty of other positions will have players on the bubble. When taking a look at only the offensive side of the ball, there will be some close camp battles. When it comes to the roster bubble, these four players find themselves likely on the outside looking in unless they somehow find a way to drastically prove themselves in training camp.
