The Chicago Bears will struggle to find room for Javon Wims

When we take a look at the wide receivers on the roster, a few of them are locks to make the final roster. Allen Robinson is clearly the top wide receiver in this offense. Anthony Miller will not be cut either and slots in as the second option. Cordarelle Patterson may not be a true wide receiver, but he is going to be on the depth chart as one and is also a lock to make the final roster.

When we look at the rest of the group, Riley Ridley is one player I do not see being cut. He was a fourth-round draft pick last season and the team is not likely to just cut someone this soon who cost that much draft capital. Ridley was able to showcase his skills in limited fashion last season, but he will need a strong 2020 season to prove he is worth keeping around beyond this year.

Speaking of draft capital, Darnell Mooney has a strong shot at making the final roster too. Ryan Pace drafted Mooney in the fifth round this season but had to trade up to be able to select him. Mooney may not make the final roster either, but at worst he will be on the practice squad. Personally, I think Mooney makes the final roster though.

This leaves Javon Wims, Ted Ginn, Trevor Davis, Reggie Davis, Thomas Ives and Ahmad Wagner left for the wide receiver group. Should the Chicago Bears keep six receivers as I suspect, Trevor and Reggie Davis have no chance at making the final roster. Either do Ives or Wagner. The two that will be on the bubble are Javon Wims and Ted Ginn.

My money is on Ginn making the roster while Wims finds himself being released. The only way Wims makes the roster is if the Bears keep seven wide receivers. I do not foresee that happening.
