The Chicago Bears could lose out on prospect Jesper Horsted

Originally, I was thinking Jesper Horsted would find his way back to the Chicago Bears practice squad. Now, I am not sure he will remain there if he goes, making him on the bubble. Horsted was not great in 2019, but outside of his poor lateral decision, or lack thereof, versus the Packers, he showed plenty of promise.

As of now, Jimmy Graham and Demetrius Harris are likely your top two tight ends. Cole Kmet will slot in as the third option. This means the Bears will be deciding to keep one of J.P. Holtz, Eric Saubert, Jesper Horsted and Darion Clark. Out of these four, I believe Holtz is the favorite. He is able to backup Graham while Kmet backs up Harris.

Saubert unfortunately I think is cut and will struggle to make another team in 2020. Between Clark and Horsted, at least the Chicago Bears know what they are getting from Horsted. Clark is more of a pet project. If Horsted is placed on the practice squad, I fear he will not last there long as another team will likely swoop in and claim him similar to how the Steelers stole Kerrith Whyte.

Although we could technically consider Clark and Saubert on the bubble, letting Horsted walk or losing him off the team’s practice squad seems more detrimental to Bears fans despite it not making a difference in the grand scheme of things.
