The Chicago Bears young linebacker has potential.

Eddie Jackson is the talent of the defensive backs while Kyle Fuller is looked at as the leader of the group. He was praised heavily by Pagano about his tape study and gameplay and how he adjusts himself with self-evaluation. When the media asked about Roquan Smith, Chuck Pagano seemed to light up a bit.

Pagano is looking for his linebackers to be involved in the run game as much as the passing game. Pagano mentioned how the zoom meeting helps Smith on how he can understand each play and put himself in a better position to make a play.

What I found interesting is how he said that Roquan Smith is in the best shape of his life. That is interesting considering how he was on a boat partying with some…stars. I have been pretty hard on Smith from day one, so hopefully, he is a new man and is ready to show us some Georgia defensive football. Smith isn’t built like Trumaine Edmonds or Darius Leonard, who Ryan Pace both scouted heavily in the 2018 NFL draft.

Next. Could Deon Bush start at safety?. dark

So I am interested to see if Smith is ready to become the next best linebacker in Chicago Bears history. Pagano shared how he is “really really lean.” Considering Smith was listed at 230 last season, I would like to see what he comes in at this season. If Smith decided he is better off being and playing fast and using that to his advantage, then more power to him.
