3. Detroit Lions

Danny Shelton, Dashawn Hand, Nick Williams, John Penisini

Matt Patricia went out and signed Danny Shelton, who the Patriots traded for a few years ago. Shelton is a former first-round pick and a stud nose tackle, but a nose tackle does not have huge value. It shows because the Patriots bought Shelton at his lowest value, and then sold him at his highest. The Lions and Browns bought him at his highest. If you can do the math, you can figure out who got the better deal between the Pats, Browns, and Lions.

Still, Shelton is fine, and Hand is exciting as a progressing lineman. The biggest issue is that they have no depth. Nick Williams was signed by the Bears off of the street. He was fine, but the Lions giving him actual money has to make you question what their GM does in his spare time.

Penisini was sound value late in the draft, but he is a rookie nose tackle. Overall, this group is heavily reliant on Shelton and Hand. They also will be sliding Trey Flowers inside on passing downs to ease the workload and keep the depth of this group off of the field.
