These four defensive players are on the Chicago Bears roster bubble

Last week we discussed four offensive players who are on the roster bubble. Obviously, not all of the roster cuts can come from the offensive side of the ball. Now we must look at who is likely on the outs on the defensive side of the ball. The Chicago Bears have plenty of talent and the top talent comes from the defense. This is a problem though for guys trying to crack the final roster.

This offseason, the Bears swapped out Leonard Floyd for Robert Quinn. Quinn is a highly talented pass rusher who will take the pressure off of Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks. If the defense does not finish with more sacks than their 2019 season, the team might as well blow up the defense and start over.

One downside could be the loss of Eddie Goldman who opted out this season due to risks associated with the current pandemic. The team could also struggle a bit without Prince Amukamara opposite Kyle Fuller. Instead, the team will likely be counting on rookie corner Jaylon Johnson. If not him, it will be Kevin Toliver or Artie Burns. Another new face in the defensive backfield is Tashaun Gipson. Gipson will be competing with Deon Bush as the starting safety.

When we look at players who are locks to make the team, we know Mack, Quinn and Hicks are guarantees. To save time and the effort of typing names we all know who is staying put, let us start looking at which four players are on the bubble.
