4. Germain Ifedi

We thought one of the position battles was going to be at right guard this offseason. There has been no competition to speak of. There has been Germain Ifedi starting at right guard. That is a huge win for a player who was starting at right tackle for the Seattle Seahawks last year.

So far, Ifedi has received glowing reviews, and the offensive line coach has not attempted to question his position on the line.

It is hard to say this is anything but positive. The Bears had a hole at right guard. While many did not think Ifedi was the exact solution, and it was out of the box, it appears that they are confident it was the right move.

It is only practice, but so far Ifedi has lived up to expectations. Keep an eye on Ifedi moving forward, because his ascension and fit into the offense could unlock the offensive line. The Bears are not wasting reps on anyone else, so Ifedi should be ready to be locked in for week one.
