What happens if Foles wins and does well?

If Foles wins and does well, this is the next best-case scenario. This means the Bears have found their ultimate bridge quarterback who can lead them to the playoffs while also aiding in the development of a future quarterback. Foles can be how Alex Smith was to Patrick Mahomes. Again, it would be greatly unfortunate to see a second overall pick be a waste for the Bears, but they must move on.

It is extremely unlikely that we see Foles play all 16 games. Given his injury history and consistency, Foles never stays healthy. He’s never played a full 16 games in his career due to injuries and poor play. We could see something similar this season if that is the case.

If Foles plays well, this is a playoff team. There is no doubt there. He can carry a team as he did the Eagles in the playoffs the year he won Super Bowl MVP. His ability to do that paired with this elite defense proves to be a scary team in the NFL. He could get injured as usual, but if he stays relatively healthy, this is at least a 10-win team with a chance at a Super Bowl given his experience.

Obviously, this trade would then make Ryan Pace look like a genius. He would have gotten Foles very cheap and made the Jaguars eat most of the contract while using him to power the Bears offense to the playoffs.
