Gabriel Sewell could be a diamond in the rough for the Chicago Bears

What if the Chicago Bears brought in a relatively unknown linebacker to add depth? Well, that is what they did by giving Gabe Sewell a tryout. Sewell is an undrafted free agent out of Nevada. Honestly, I am surprised by them bringing Sewell in only because they already have two undrafted free agents on the roster. Rashad Smith is the one I thought would stick around, but maybe the team is not happy with what they have seen from Smith and Keandre Jones.

Sewell spent five seasons with Nevada. He red-shirted his freshman year and played the other four. He racked up 158 solo tackles and 124 assists during that time. He also had 21.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks over those four years. Sewell added two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and five pass deflections to his resume.

Sewell has decent size at 6’0″ and 245 pounds. If he was not drafted and has not landed with a team yet, I would be very surprised he finds his way onto the roster. He could be a guy the team considers if they lose a few players or the team has to place any players on the COVID-19 list during the season.

Out of all of these names, Ogletree brings the biggest name recognition and honestly is the only one I would consider adding to the roster if looking for more than just a special teams player. Otherwise, give me Davante Bond who has experience already with the Bears special teams unit.
