Jamie Newman – Georgia (Projected 2nd or 3rd Round)

If the Chicago Bears decide to pass on Lance in the first round, they could target a guy like Jamie Newman in the second or third round. Newman transferred from Wake Forest to Georgia in hopes to prove that he is a top-tier quarterback. His time in Wake Forest did not go unnoticed, but playing for a national-spotlight team like Georgia is definitely more ideal.

Last season, Newman threw for 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He completed just over 60 percent of his passes and threw for just shy of 2,900 yards. Newman is also a dual-threat. He added another 574 yards on the ground and scored six rushing touchdowns. He has great size at 6’4″ and 230 pounds. Many believed he was going to take the next big step in 2020, but we will have to wait and see if or when a season will happen.

Newman is also in a quarterback competition with JT Daniels. As of now, reports are that Newman is likely to win the job, but that could change before the team’s scheduled opener in late September. Plus, the pandemic could cause problems too if for some reason the season is still canceled or delayed. Newman should be a second or even third-round pick in 2021. He could be the best quarterback prospect for the Bears at that price.
