Chicago Bears: Quarterbacks to draft in 2021 no matter what
Tanner Morgan – Minnesota (Projected 2nd or 3rd Round)
The next option the Chicago Bears could consider is Tanner Morgan. Morgan brings some great intangibles to the field. His decision making is superb and he makes some fantastic anticipatory throws despite not having the best arm strength. Sounds like something Matt Nagy would appreciate in a quarterback, does it not?
In 2019, Morgan threw 30 touchdowns to only seven interceptions. He completed 66.0 percent of his passes for 3,253 yards. Morgan does not bring anything to the table with his legs, but that should not stop the Bears from considering him in the second or third round.
Brock Purdy – Iowa State (Projected 3rd Round)
If the Chicago Bears decide to skip the quarterback position in both the first and second rounds, Brock Purdy could be the guy to consider. Purdy plays at the same college as Bears running back David Montgomery. Why not dip into the same well twice?
Purdy did not throw the ball as much in his freshman year as he did last year as a sophomore, but that did not stop him from completing over 65 percent of his passes both seasons. In 2019, Purdy was able to showcase his talents. He threw for just shy of 4,000 yards. His touchdown to interception ratio fantastic too with 27 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. He’s a better dual-threat than Tanner Morgan with 249 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
Final Thoughts:
I would be very happy if the Chicago Bears were to come away with one of these four options. I would even be okay with a few others later in the draft, but that’s only if one of either Trubisky or Foles shows some success this season.
