The Chicago Bears may have to bargain shop in free agency again

Free agency is looking really sweet next year. Names like Chris Godwin, Alvin Kamara, Dalvin Cook, David Bakhtiari, Yannick Ngakoue, Shaq Barrett, and Ronnie Stanley are just some of the superstars set to hit the open market. The Bears will also have a big free agent in Allen Robinson. With the cap situation, the Bears are in, it does not look like any of these players will be wearing blue and orange any time soon.

The main thing for the Bears right now is to lock up Allen Robinson. He has outplayed the contract he is on and deserves an extension. That would mean paying him about $16 million per year, maybe a bit more. This would mean even less money for a free agent. So, if the Bears are to bring anybody in, it would most likely have to be on a minimum deal.

So far, it seems like an uneventful offseason so say the least. This will be three years in a row where the Bears are unable to bring in any impactful free agents. That means that Ryan Pace will have to ace the draft if he is still around.

For the Bears, the goal in free agency is to extend Robinson and resign any players they need to keep the team somewhat together. At the same time, they need to find some way to save money. Sounds like there is a financial clamp on this team, which is unfortunate because of the talent this team has.
