DJ Chark, Wide Receiver

All offseason, Bears fans called for the Bears to target another wide receiver to replace Taylor Gabriel. They added Ted Ginn Jr. to attempt to do this, but that might not be enough. They also added Darnell Mooney, but he may not be ready to be a starting wide receiver in the NFL.

Insert DJ Chark.

As a rookie, Chark didn’t see the field much, but in only his second season, Chark broke out big time. He developed a rapport with both quarterbacks Nick Foles (currently on the Bears) and rookie Gardner Minshew. Chark got 118 targets catching 73 passes for 1008 yards and eight touchdowns in a rather shaky offense.

Chark is an all-around explosive, fast, and tough receiver to cover. He ran a 4.34 at the NFL combine and has a 96th percentile speed score and 93rd percentile burst score according to Player Profiler. Pair that athleticism with his 6’3″ height and he’s a tough guy to cover. He’s only 24 years old and could be the wide receiver of the future.

A wide receiver core consisting of Anthony Miller, DJ Chark, and Allen Robinson could contest for one of the best in the NFL. This could take the offense to the next level.

It would take a lot to snag Chark from the Jaguars, but with the fire sale, anything is possible. Additionally, he is on his rookie contract still where he is only roughly a $1 million cap hit for this season and next.
