How will the Chicago Bears fare over the first four weeks of the 2020 season?
We are less than a week away from the start of the Chicago Bears season. The team is set. The 53-man roster has been finalized and now even the practice looks to be finalized (although could change)
The quarterback competition was close, but in the end, Matt Nagy picked Mitch Trubisky to start Week 1 versus the Lions. According to most beat reporters, it seemed most thought Nick Foles looked better overall. That said, some thought Mitch Trubisky looked to be better. Overall, not many beat reporters were impressed by either one though. This could wind up being another 2019 season all over again.
A depth chart has not been made public yet and there are other positions looming. Is David Montgomery healthy enough for Week 1? If he cannot go, who suits up as the starter or will there be a running-back-by-committee (RBBC) approach used with Tarik Cohen, Ryan Nall and new Cordarrelle Patterson? Patterson is now listed as a running back on the Chicago Bears roster.
Cornerback is another big question mark. Will Jaylon Johnson be the starting outside corner versus the Lions or will it be Buster Skrine making the shift to outside from the nickel? If Skrine moves over, will Kindle Vildor start as a rookie or will it be Duke Shelley out there instead? Safety is another question mark. It seems Deon Bush will be the opening day starter, but could Tashaun Gipson take over?
Even with all of these questions, we can take an early look at how the Chicago Bears should do over the first four games of the regular season. The team will start off against the Lions, but the first four games will be key to the Bears season as they are somewhat easier than what is to come after Week 4.
