Eric Saubert, Tight End

The first player on this list is a huge surprise to the fans. Personally, I liked Eric Saubert a lot, but a lot of fans were pulling for Jesper Horsted after the last season he had with us.

The other surprise of this is that the Bears are carrying five tight ends, which could seem outlandish. However, when the Bears deploy three different tight ends on the field — H, U, and Y — it makes more sense. I’m not sure which role Saubert will play, but he proved his worth in camp to make the team.

Saubert was a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s only caught seven passes in his NFL career, but his size is intriguing. He was signed to the Bears team late last season when virtually everyone was hurt but didn’t see the field much as J.P. Holtz and Horsted were already at the front.

We will see if he lasts on the team, but from what has been said, Saubert has impressed thus far and could stay with the team.
