The Bears running back room has some explosive pieces out to prove themselves

Running Backs: David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen, Ryan Nall

Grade: B

This Bears running back group on paper is looking pretty solid. Ryan Nall only has two carries in his two-year career, so expect him to be a borderline practice squad, or bottom of the roster type guy.

While he is listed as a WR I fully expect Cordarrell Patterson to line up in the backfield and take some carries. Patterson can be an electric player in space with the ball in his hand. As his past with kick returning and his short time in New England has shown.

Tarik Cohen as expected is going to be the number two back on the team. Cohen was a fourth-round pick in 2017 and has been a reliable player for Chicago since then.

He may be one of the smallest players in the whole league, but he can make plays when called upon. Tarik has shown he has talent receiving the ball out of the backfield. He can be deadly on screen passes with his ability to make people miss. He will probably never be thought of as an every-down player but is surely someone who can make plays.

At the top of the Bears depth chart is second-year player David Montgomery. Ryan Pace traded up in the third round to get David Montgomery. While he didn’t have a crazy breakout year, he still was very solid and looks to be an ascending player.

Montgomery played in all 16 games last season and rushed for almost 900 yards, and got six touchdowns. He has had a minor setback in camp with an injury but doesn’t seem to be too serious. Look to see Montgomery take a big step forward, I feel he has the ability to be a franchise back for most teams.
