The Chicago Bears will need to rely on these three areas to beat the Lions

We are now days away from the start of the Chicago Bears regular season. In fact, the NFL season started last night. It will be interesting to see how the season lasts through the COVID-19 pandemic. As of now, things look to be going okay, but who knows what might happen once the travel starts to become an added factor.

What we do know is that the Chicago Bears will face off against the Detroit Lions this upcoming Sunday. Over the last few seasons, the Bears have had their way with the Lions. We should back that statement up a bit. Since Matt Nagy has been the head coach the Bears have had their way with the Lions. In 2017, the Lions wound up on top of the Bears in both games. In 2016, the two split the games. In fact, most of the outcomes in all of these have been somewhat close scores.

Going back to the 2012 season, only three games finished greater than one score apart. That equates to 13 out of 16 games within one score. We should not be shocked by this though. Most divisional games are closer than others. This should not scare fans too much though.

Someone recently asked me what percentage I would assign the Chicago Bears’ chances of beating the Lions this weekend. My answer was 75 percent. My only fear about this game is Robert Quinn being unable to play. The team needs a pass rush and the player behind Quinn is rookie Tashaun Gipson. I like Gipson as a prospect, but not someone I want to count on starting in the first week of the season. Staying healthy aside, here are the three keys to a Bears victory.
