Third new Safety tandem in three years hoping to improve upon last season

Safety: Eddie Jackson, Tashaun Gipson, Deon Bush, Sherrick McManis, Deandre Houston-Carson

Grade: B+

You can make the argument that the Safety room is one of the more complete rooms on this defense. Houston-Carson is a five-year vet who most likely won’t see much playing time unless there is an injury.

Sherrick McManis is coming into his 11th year in the NFL and his ninth with the Bears. Sherrick is a bit of a fan favorite who is a strong special team player and can be called upon to play the position when needed.

Deon Bush is coming into his fifth year in the league, all of which has been with the Bears. Bush is more of a depth piece but similar to McManis can play when called upon.

Tashaun Gipson is a nine-year veteran who has played for the Texans, Jaguars, and Browns. Gipson, in my opinion, is an underrated safety who can play the position at a high level. His best days are probably behind him but he certainly can still make an impact in this talented secondary.

Finishing this off with one of the best players on the entire roster, and that is Eddie Jackson. Jackson is entering his fourth year in the Nfl and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2017 draft out of Alabama, and he was an absolute steal.

Jackson had a monster breakout season in 2018. Showing the league that he is one of the best safeties out there. Bursting onto the season with 15 pass deflections, and bringing in six interceptions. He came back down to earth a little bit last year, however, you can argue that Clinton-Dix and he were not a good fit together. Look for Eddie Jackson to return closer to his 2018 form.
