Chicago Bears vs Lions: Recap as Bears pull off an upset
The Chicago Bears offense played Jekyll and Hyde
Well. I do not really have words. The Bears offense was nearly nonexistent in the first three quarters. Then something clicked. Seeing Jimmy Graham line up in some different formations seemed to open up the offense.
Mitch Trubisky who had some horrific stats was inconsistently bad with a few great plays in between. Those in-between flashes were what I was hoping to see but more consistently. He became a completely different person late in the third and let’s hope that quarterback finds a way to stay for good.
The great news for the Bears was the running game. Matt Nagy and the other offensive coaches made this run game look completely different than what we saw last season. Give some credit to the offensive line and the addition of Germain IFedi. The running backs were patient and had some great vision. David Montgomery continues to show his strength, balance and ability to break tackles.
Rookie receiver Darnell Mooney looked sharp in his debut. He caught three balls for 38 yards. Anthony Miller and Allen Robinson made some fantastic catches too, but there were a few lapses. Overall though, the two looked like one of the better receiving duos in the NFL.
Jimmy Graham and the tight end unit were not looking sharp to start, but once things got going, Graham turned it on some. He scored the Bears first touchdown and had a second touchdown overturned and placed at the two yard-line. He finished with only 25 yards but made his presence known.
Overall, the offense looked flat most the game and the Trubisky debate will continue to weigh on. Who shows up next week versus the Giants?
