Will the Chicago Bears extend Allen Robinson or just simply trade him?

Wow. Did not expect to be writing about this after one week of the regular season. Especially after the Chicago Bears started the year out 1-0 after an amazing comeback victory over the Lions. We were talking about this earlier in our writers’ chat and just did not expect any of the rumors to be true. Then things took a turn for the worse.

Allen Robinson took down all of his Chicago Bears related content (photos, bio, etc.) from his social media accounts. Could he be trying to work some leverage into his negotiations that seem to have gone nowhere? Yep, definitely could have been it. At the time, Robinson had not formally requested a trade or anything of that matter. In fact, it was somewhat silent on his part.

Social media went into panic mode regarding the Chicago Bears top wideout. Fans have been pushing for Ryan Pace and the Bears to extend Allen Robinson for a while now. It has honestly been the biggest knock on my evaluation of Ryan Pace. This is coming from a Pace supporter. However, my appreciation for what he has done is starting to wear thin.

I keep telling myself that this is not Ryan Pace’s move. Instead, I have a feeling this is more of a George McCaskey and Ted Phillips move. When McCaskey was asked last week about his expectations for the 2020 team, his response was a little cryptic. He spoke about how every year the goal is the Super Bowl, but then went on to speak to the 2018 season and compared it to the 2019 seasons. He said they need to see which team this actually is, the 2018 or 2019 version.

As other teams were handing out extensions left and right to skill position players, Allen Robinson sat waiting –patiently. Unfortunately, it seems that patience has run out. Now rumors are that he has requested to be traded. Although, a more recent report refutes that claim. Hard to believe the agent telling Adam Schefter what was said over Brad Biggs who has insider information into the Chicago Bears.

Whether Robinson asked for a trade or not, things are not looking good regarding this situation. Clearly there is some divide despite Ryan Pace constantly saying Allen Robinson knows how they feel about him. With that in mind, we took a look at some potential trades the Bears could make involving Robinson.
