The San Francisco 49ers should call the Chicago Bears right away

If there is any team in the NFL that is depleted of wide receiver help it is the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers’ top receiving target in their Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals was running back Raheem Mostert. He finished with four catches for 95 yards. Not bad, but their top wide receiver was fourth on the list behind George Kittle and full back Kyle Juszczyk.

When your top wide receiver target is Kendrick Bourne you have some depth problems. Now, clearly the team has better receivers, but they seem to all be dealing with injuries. Dante Pettis was a hopeful prospect of many fans but did not record a catch in Week 1 despite playing 73 percent of the offensive snaps. Rookie prospect Brandon Aiyuk was inactive. Deebo Samuel is another young receiver with high hopes but is not going to be back before Week 4.

You know the team is desperate when they sign Mohamed Sanu off the street. Instead of counting on Sanu, what if the team chose to call Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears instead? Just like the New England trade, the 49ers will give up a second-round pick that has the potential to be a first plus a fourth-rounder.

Although I would prefer Robinson, both of these draft pick offers seem fair. It is a shame the team cannot come away with a similar haul to what the Vikings got in the Stefon Diggs trade.
