Chicago Bears ESPN ranking – 20th

ESPN has the Bears ranked 20th. This is up two spots from where the sports media outlet had the Bears ranked heading into Week 1. When it comes to the Bears being in 20th, I think I would feel better about it if not for some of the other teams ahead of them.

Now, I understand ESPN (and any other media outlets) do not want to overreact based on just Week 1 alone. However, some teams looked awfully bad in their Week 1 performance and still are higher than the Bears in the rankings.

The fact the Colts are higher (18) than the Bears right now after losing to a Jacksonville Jaguars team ESPN has ranked 27th is somewhat confusing. The Jaguars were originally ESPN’s 32nd (NFL worst) team before Week 1. Moving them up to 27th seems right, but it seems the Colts and Bears should at least be flipped.

Other teams that seem off to me are the Eagles at 16 (originally 12), the Arizona Cardinals (15) and the Vikings (14). The Eagles and Vikings need to be lower after their team’s performances and the Cardinals should be higher after beating the 49ers. A better spot for the Bears on this list seems to be in the 15 to 17 range.
