MVP: The Chicago Bears Defense

This game was absolutely a tale of two halves for the Bears. The offense looked really solid in the first half while struggling to get much of anything going in the second. The defense, on the other hand, played a pretty consistent game from start to finish.

The pass was much improved after a subpar performance last week. Roquan Smith and Eddie Jackson were all over the field, both getting involved in eight tackles. Robert Quinn made his presence felt with a strip-sack in his Chicago Bears debut. Khalil Mack also came away with his first sack of the season and was getting in the backfield with consistency.

The Bears were also fantastic on third-down situations only allowing the Giants to go 3-13 on third-down. With the unfortunate injury to Saquan Barkley, the Giants had an uphill battle to face.

Final Thoughts:

On paper, the Bears were more than good enough to beat New York and they proved it on Sunday. Finishing up with some closing thoughts about the game, I’ve written at depth about Darnell Mooney, which can be read here, but he continues to show that he looks like someone who can be a real player in this league with the skillset he possesses.

Allen Robinson was someone who I considered as a dud but decided against it, however, he seemed to not have his best stuff today and the argument could be made that there was a lack of effort on his part. Look for him to bounce back against a weak Falcons secondary next week.

One last shoutout for Cordarrell Patterson who once again showed that he can be used as a weapon in just about any situation. All in all, I would call this an ugly win by the Chicago Bears as they remain undefeated and tied for first in the NFC North.
