Chicago Bears ESPN ranking – 17

ESPN has the Bears ranked 17th. This is up three spots from where the sports media outlet had the Bears ranked heading into Week 2. ESPN has the Chicago Bears as the lowest 2-0 team in the league. Again, this has to do with beating the Lions, Giants and the way the team won both games.

I mentioned the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles being above the Bears in last week’s rankings and ESPN at least made that correction as the Texans and Eagles are both 0-2. The Texans are 20th and the Eagles are 21st as we head into Week 2. The Vikings saw a huge drop from 14 and are also below the Bears now as they should be. It seems the national media and many others had too much faith in the Vikings this season.

One team to note on this list in the top 10 is the 49ers. I would drastically drop them down as we need to take all of the injuries they just sustained in Week 2. Jimmy Garappolo sustained a high ankle sprain and is trending to not playing in Week 3. Could he miss even more time? The 49ers also lost superstar defensive end Nick Bosa for the season and fellow pass rushers Dee Ford and Solomon Thomas. Thomas is also out for the year and no timetable is set for Ford.

Adding Ezekiel Ansah should help, but not enough. I would not put the 49ers below the Bears yet, but they should be much closer than nine versus 17. The 49ers lost to the Cardinals in Week 1 and easily defeated the Jets in Week 2. The Jets are worse than both the Giants and the Lions in my opinion and also ESPN’s opinion as the Jets are ranked dead last.
