Chicago Bears: 3 overreactions after Week 3 win at Falcons
Roquan Smith needs to be benched
Before Nick Foles came in and the defense buckled down in the 4th quarter, this defense was not having a good time against the Falcons. They weren’t necessarily playing horribly, but there were simple mistakes happening up and down the field.
The most glaringly bad part of this defense was a player who showed potential over the past two seasons in Roquan Smith. The young linebacker hasn’t given Chicago Bears fans much to worry about through this point in the year, but during the first half against the Falcons, red flags were flying all over the place.
There were multiple big-yardage plays and touchdowns that could be traced directly back to Roquan. As a young player, we shouldn’t be extremely worried about anything, but rather keep an eye on Smith. Would the Bears have had a better first half if he had been sitting on the bench? Probably, but he didn’t and this team came away with a win.
Hopefully, this is just a one-game issue for number 58 and the Bears defense can bounce back after an incomplete game.
