The Chicago Bears exciting option
We are going to stay on the tall pocket looking quarterbacks and roll onto Desmond Ridder. Ridder is more than that. The Green Bay Packers traded up for Jordan Love this year when they could have waited one more year for someone potentially better.
I might be the only Chicago Bears fan that did not want Jordan Love to end up a Chicago Bear. Chicago Bear fans, you want a winner, arm talent, scrambling, and high upside. This kid is your guy. Ridder has been Jordan Love without the turnovers. I am sorry, Packer fans, I don’t understand teams going after kids that turn the ball over that much in college.
Ridder is listed at 6’4 215 and fell off his sophomore year, much like Love did his Junior year. But it wasn’t that bad. Ridder tossed 18 touchdowns to nine interceptions and only completed 55% of his passes. So far, Ridder is back up to 60% this year and has thrown four touchdowns to one interception.
Ridder is fast and has a cannon. He also lost weapons each year to the NFL like Josiah Deguara this year and Kahlil Lewis the year before. Those excuses for Love losing talent isn’t enough. Ridder is a winner. Since becoming the starter at Cincinnati, the team has won 24 games and lost five in the last three seasons.
Now Ridder is a project, but he has gobs of upside. Ridder is very comparable to Jordan Love but seems not to be as reckless as Love. You will see Ridder run across the field and throw a bomb downfield to a receiver for a touchdown, and you will see him throw into tight double coverage and see an interception. What you won’t see is him hang his head. Ridder will find a way to win the ball game at the end.
