Robert Quinn, Outside Linebacker

After signing a generous contract with the Bears this offseason, Robert Quinn hasn’t exactly lived up to his hype. He didn’t play in Week 1 due to injury, and in the other weeks, Quinn never totaled more than 50% of the snaps. The Bears didn’t spend that money on Quinn this offseason for him to just be a rotational outside linebacker.

It would make sense if the Bears didn’t have Quinn in much yet because of an injury, but he has been a full participant in practice lately. He only has two tackles on the season one of which was a strip-sack against the New York Giants in Week 2.

Quinn was brought in to help increase this pass rush after Leonard Floyd was ineffective as a pass rusher in the past few seasons. With Akiem Hicks, Khalil Mack, and now Quinn, the Bears’ pass rush was expected to be elite and one of the best in the NFL. That is not the case at the moment.

Quinn needs to play more regardless. It isn’t clear whether or not he will play more this week, but if he does, he can be a factor in the pass rush and help this Bears’ defense generate more sacks and more turnovers as well.
