Khalil Mack was a field tilter for the Bears against the Buccaneers

MVP: Khalil Mack

I mean, who else was it really going to be? Khalil Mack played out of his mind against Tampa Bay and showed why he is one of the most feared pass rushers in NFL history. He sacked Tom Brady twice and could have even had more.

All season Mack has been playing great, even if the sack numbers weren’t showing it through the first four weeks. Per Pro Football Focus, Mack is tied for first with 27 pressures, second in hurries with 20, and is tied for third in sacks with four.

He has been playing great all year and is the catalyst for this Bears defense. Also tossing Tampa Bay’s rookie Tristan Wirfs to the ground like he was nothing was really cool.

For a few years now this Chicago Bears defense has been good enough to win a super bowl all they need is an average offense and I think they can make some noise in the playoffs.

Final Thoughts:

I went hard on Matt Nagy last week but I think some of his playcalling was better. I still have issues with how they’re using Montgomery, I don’t understand why they don’t run it with him more.

Speaking of David Montgomery he once again had a poor day rushing the ball just getting 10 carries for 29 yards. Many people are quick to defend him claiming it’s not his fault, and that may be partially true. However, at some point the RB you traded up to get needs to start making the most with what he gets and he doesn’t seem to do it at a consistent level.

I keep saying it but this Bears team has flaws in their game but 4-1 is 4-1 at the end of the day. After five weeks they’re are looking like they will be playing in January.
