Chicago Bears: 6 Trades Ryan Pace must consider for playoff push
If you do not want to have two smaller guys running routes with McLaurin and Mooney, maybe the team makes a move for DJ Chark instead. Remember, the Jaguars seem to be in a fire sale. Would they move on from their number-one receiver to bring back their old star Allen Robinson? Probably not, but what if the Chicago Bears enticed them with a fifth-round pick? This is not the same Jaguars team that Robinson left years ago.
I would think the fanbase would be okay with bringing Robinson back. He was clearly not the problem — Blake Bortles was the problem. Maybe this time the Jaguars decide to pay Robinson as a number one receiver instead of letting him test free agency?
Robinson is a slight upgrade to Chark at this point in their careers and the Chicago Bears could use a discounted wide receiver to pair with Anthony Miller and Darnell Mooney. This will allow them to extend Cordarrelle Patterson and maybe look to add an offensive guard to compete for the starting job with James Daniels on injured reserve.
Like Robinson, Chark is a big-bodied receiver, however, he has better deep-threat speed than Robinson. Would that be a better fit in Matt Nagy’s offense? Maybe not, but at least the Bears are getting something in return if Ryan Pace was told by the higher-ups that he cannot extend Robinson at this point in the season. In fact, they might not be letting him extend him at all unless the Chicago Bears make the playoffs. By then, Robinson might decide to walk or take the tag.
Final Thoughts:
There are a couple of crazy trades in here, but I really would like to see the Chicago Bears pursue a defensive tackle that can help with the run game and possibly an offensive lineman to help ensure the line continues its progress in the run game now that they lost James Daniels for the season.
