Are the Chicago Bears upset for not convincing Teddy Bridgewater to sign here?

Do you believe Teddy Bridgewater can sustain his recent success or is it a fluke vs. poor pass defenses?

I think that’s a little harsh on the way Bridgewater has started the season. The Panthers should have beaten the Raiders in Week 1 and his only bad outing came in the first half against the Bucs.

This is going to be the biggest test of the season for Bridgewater, of that there is little doubt. But he is starting to win even the staunchest Cam Newton loyalist around and a big outing against the Bears would further enhance his chances of being Carolina’s long-term starter.

Will the Bears offense see an uptick this week vs a poor CAR defense?

Don’t sleep on the Panthers’ defense. Much of their poor stats come from a disappointing first two games and they have grown in stature ever since. Stopping the run remains a problem and outside of stud rookie Jeremy Chinn, their linebacking corps needs some work. But there is plenty to like about the sort of pressure the defensive front is getting and the surprising production from their secondary.

The Bears haven’t offered much in the way of running ability this season. But it is vital for Carolina that Brian Burns, Kawann Short, and Donte Jackson are fit enough to take their place in the lineup.

How do you think the game will go/prediction?

This is going to be a tight one. Both sides look pretty evenly matched and it might come down to who gets the most pressure from their pass-rushing weapons.

The Bears have had plenty of time to prepare following their Thursday Night Football game. But the Panthers are growing in stature with every passing contest and that might be enough to get them over the line.

Prediction: Panthers 24 Bears 17

Final Thoughts:

We appreciate Dean Jones giving us his time. That said, I disagree with his prediction. The Bears will find a way to win another close game (24-20). With no Christian McCaffrey and a defense that has given up more points statistically to the running back position than 28 other teams, David Montgomery should see at least 20 carries in this one as Matt Nagy rides his running backs to victory.
