How many of you forgot that Jared Allen once played for the Chicago Bears?

5. Jared Allen

Jared Allen should be best remembered for his time with the Chiefs and division rival Vikings. During his time with Minnesota especially, he was one of the best pass rushers in the entire league.

From 2007 to 2013 Allen never recorded less than 11 sacks, including an insane 22 sacks in 2011. He came to the Bears in 2014 and it was safe to say that his best days looked like they were behind him. In fact, the most memorable thing about Jared Allen that people may remember after his career in Minnesota came to an end was his retirement video. In the video, Allen literally rides off on a horse.

The Chicago Bears let another aging veteran, Julius Peppers walk after the 2013 season and brought in Jared Allen as his replacement. In 18 total games with Chicago Allen only got 5.5 sacks before finishing his career with the Panthers. Needless to say, the Bears would have been better off keeping Peppers, who played another five seasons. Three of those seasons included playing for the Green Bay Packers. During that five-year span, Peppers averaged 8.2 sacks per year.
