Chicago Bears vs Rams: 5 Keys to a victory in Week 7
Nagy’s big decision on offense
In doing these previews, I like to identify the most important decisions made by the Chicago Bears play-callers as the starting point to predict how the game will go. In the matchup between the Bears offense and the Rams defense, Nagy’s big decision is which soft spot in the Rams defense can he most exploit.
This should be a relatively, easy decision for Coach Nagy. In the Rams-49ers game last week, the Rams defense gave up 12 passes, 10 first downs and one touchdown to the 49ers tight ends. The Rams safeties and inside linebackers are 6′ or 6’1″. The Bears have two good pass-catching tight ends that are 6’7″ and 6’6″. Ironically, the tallest defender with enough speed to pass cover is ex-Bears linebacker Leonard Floyd.
Vic Fangio used to like using Floyd in coverage. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Rams match Floyd with the tight ends if the Bears’ tight ends are having their way with the smaller pass defenders.
