Chicago Bears vs Rams: 5 Keys to a victory in Week 7
A plan for the Chicago Bears to create a soft spot in the Rams offensive line
Here is an idea of how the Bears can put pressure on Goff. Andrew Whitworth has been a very good left tackle. However, he is 38 years old. To take advantage of his age, Pagano should have the Bears use lots of stunts against him and also regularly overload his side of the field with pass rushers. The Rams left tackle may start out the game feeling like he is 28. However, if the Bears make him work extra hard throughout the game he could end up feeling older than 38 quickly.
The Bears cannot have him faceoff against only Robert Quinn and Khalil Mack, but Pagano must also throw lots of fresh legs at him like Mario Edwards who has played well of late. The Rams offensive line is good but the Bears have a lot of pass-rush weapons. Ultimately, I believe Pagano will find the right recipe to give Goff headaches. Of course, the best way for the Bears defense is to put Goff in lots of 3rd and longs. If that happens the Rams offense will be in for a long day.
Sean McVay is clearly one of the best offensive minds in the NFL today. McVay may try to run a lot on the Bears. His team may even succeed at it. However, both Coach McVay and Coach Nagy like their teams passing the rock more than running it. So I believe the Rams head coach will call more pass plays than run plays. McVay is very clever in how he uses play-action to set up a defense. However, If the Rams do lean more to the pass then the run that still plays into the Bears defensive strength.
If you watch the tape on most of the Bears run plays you will see well-designed plays where at least one guy misses his block and screws up the entire play. If the Bears can somehow avoid this pattern their offense will have maybe their best game.
My prediction: Bears win 26 -20.
