Would the Chicago Bears select Trey Lance if he fell far enough in the draft?

That is it for the veterans. Now we will move onto the 2021 NFL Draft. There is absolutely no chance of the Chicago Bears landing Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields. Honestly, even the third quarterback projected (some have him second) to go in the draft might not be an option for the Bears. With five wins and the defense playing well, the Bears are likely to be in the middle to late part of the draft.

That third quarterback is looking to be Trey Lance. Lance had an unbelievable 2019 season for the North Dakota State Bison. He threw for 28 touchdowns, ran for another 14 and did not throw a single interception. In his only action of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lance threw his first collegiate interception. He also threw two touchdowns and ran for another two. The only problem is that he only threw for 149 yards and completed only 50 percent of his passes.

Lance would be a raw prospect and comes from the same school as Carson Wentz. They are very different types of quarterbacks though. Lance would be an exciting pick if Ryan Pace were to grab him should he fall. That said, I am not going to advocate Pace trading up for Lance. I do not see him being the next Patrick Mahomes.
