Richard Dent was always a scare for opposing offenses

Number 4: Richard Dent

Richard Dent was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1983 and stayed in Chicago for 11 very productive seasons. He left Chicago for the 49ers in 1994, before coming back to Chicago for 1995. He then finished up is his career in 1997 with the Eagles, and Colts respectively.

Richard Dent, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated pass rushers of all time. In 1984 he had 17.5 sacks and then in 1985, he followed that up with another 17 sack season. Dent was a major part of that 1985 defense which is highly regarded as one of the best of all time.

That 85 defense could’ve made out this whole list by themselves but I feel that Dent was the most integral part of it. Between 1984 and 1993 Dent never recorded less than 8.5 sacks, and he only got less than 10 sacks twice over that span.

That stretch of play is a consistency that is hard to replicate. Dent had to wait quite a while to get into the Hall of Fame. Something I feel is a disservice to his legacy, Dent didn’t make it in until 2011 a whole 12 years after his retirement.
