The main reason the Bears should call the Giants is for offensive line help

One name being floated out there as a possible trade target is offensive guard Kevin Zeitler. Zeitler could be a nice replacement for James Daniels who went down for the year. Rashaad Coward is for sure not the answer. Alex Bars looked okay in limited action yesterday after Bobby Massie went down with an injury, but overall I would prefer to see Zeitler lined up next to Charles Leno.

Zeitler has another year on his contract, but he is easily disposable with only a $2.5 million dollar cap hit in 2021. If Zeitler does well though, maybe he shifts to right guard next year as Germain Ifedi is only signed through 2020. Zeitler is a solid offensive lineman. He is not elite or an All-Pro, but those linemen hardly become available through trade. What he brings is consistency the team is lacking right now with Bars and Coward.

The thing is, adding a player like Zeitler should not be the last move the Bears make for the offensive line. If the team truly wants to make a push, then the blocking up front must change. It is possible with how well Sam Mustipher has been in limited action, maybe Cody Whitehair moves back to left guard. This would be fantastic news if that improves the line this year.

From a future perspective that would put Mustipher at center, Whitehair at left guard and Daniels at right guard in 2021. Then the team only needs to find two new tackles next season.
