This player would be an immediate upgrade at the position for the Bears

Jake Matthews:

Jake Matthews is a better option than what the Chicago Bears currently have at offensive tackle and it really isn’t close. Charles Leno and Bobby Massie have been subject to a lot of criticism all year, and deservedly so.

Neither player is a good option especially for the most important position on the offensive line. Both Leno and Massie have been with the team for a while now, and I think it’s safe to say the fans have had enough.

So as I said Matthews would be an immediate upgrade at a position that is desperate for someone to make an impact. Matthews was a former first-round pick by Atlanta in 2014 and has been with the team ever since.

He is a pretty underrated tackle who seems to be a fan favorite in Atlanta, so unlike Carpenter, I do think the Bears will have to give up a little more to get him. Certainly not a first but maybe a third or fourth-rounder.

The Falcons may not be willing to trade their long-time lineman but at the very least the Bears should be giving Atlanta a call about him to see if the team is willing to deal him or not. Matthews would absolutely be a great fit for the O-line.
