Just for fun, what if the Bears added J.J. Watt to this team?

There were plenty of trade for J.J. Watt rumors thrown out over the offseason as Watt’s fiance Kealia Ohai was traded from the Houston Dash (a women’s professional soccer team) to the Chicago Red Stars. Why people thought just because Ohai was traded to Chicago Watt would be too was a little ridiculous, but in a year without sports as we know them, it was fun to think about.

Well, now this trade could actually happen. The Texans are a disaster and although Watt has been the face of the franchise, it might be time to move on. Watt is now nearly 32 years old. He has battled many injuries over the last few years and has not been as productive on the field due to those injuries. Watt only had four sacks last season, but 16 in 2018. He has three at this point this season.

If the Bears could add Watt for a fifth-round pick in 2021 and nothing more than a fourth-round pick in 2022, I would take a swing at him. Adding him to the rotation of Akiem Hicks, Roy Robertson-Harris and Bilal Nichols would be ideal. Not only that, it could prolong Watt’s career if he could be used as more of a rotational guy than the guy.

Bears could start one of these QBs in 2021. dark. Next

Now, if the Bears bring in one of these players, that cannot be enough. The team must, absolutely must find a trade partner for an offensive lineman — maybe even two. If Ryan Pace does not make a move then either he or the people above him have given up on this team. That could also mean the end of Pace and Matt Nagy sooner than many expected.
